About
Kamiko is an award-winning film producer and the founder of SFT Studios, an independent production company. With over six years of experience producing feature films, shorts, and commercials, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brigham Young University, he combines his expertise in analytics and forecasting with a passion for filmmaking to keep every project running smoothly. In the last year, films he produced were screened at festivals including the Cannes Film Festival Short Corner, Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival, and PanicFest.
Seven years ago, Kamiko co-founded the weekly podcast Sweet Film Talk. It releases new episodes every Monday and has featured interviews with filmmakers such as Chris Stuckmann and Uwe Boll. Sweet Film Talk partnered with Marvel to promote Shang‑Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in Times Square.
In addition to his producing career, Kamiko has taught high‑school film at Copper Hills High School for the past three years. From his very first year, he challenged top students to create a feature film, where the students wrote, cast, directed, produced, edited, and distributed three features (“Write Club,” “Five More Minutes,” and “Whispers”). Guiding aspiring filmmakers through every production stage remains one of his proudest achievements.
Lastly, Kamiko loves the filmmaking community in Utah and is often trying to find ways to give back. He is part of the committee that is bringing Provo its first independent movie theater. With a 501(c)(3) established and permits being obtained, he looks forward to creating a permanent space for cinema and helping local talent make films that reach audiences worldwide.
